The Breadwinner was a solid body electric guitar made by the Ovation Guitar Company. It is one of the few solid body electrics they ever made, and it was the first mass-produced American guitar to have active FET preamp electronics.The Breadwinners were coated in Kaman Industries' "LyraChord" 'BLACK' material over Mahogony and has 2x Humbuckers. Serial number E2703 1973 (Jan)-1975 (Feb) made in New Hartford Connecticut USA The designer Mike Writes"...My idea was to make it resemble a medieval battle axe because musicians at that time often referred to their instruments as their "axe". I also designed it so there was a deep cutaway below the strings to reach the high notes. I also wanted it to rest comfortably on the knee when playing while seated. Hence the cutaway at the bottom..."
